Nigerian cardinal. Until his retirement in 2008 he was Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments. One of the principal advisors to the late Pope St. John Paul II. During the 2005 conclave, from whence came Benedict XVI, Arrinze was considered papabile.
