French Dominican cardinal, theologian and author. A leading Vatican II voice. Authored or collaborated on nearly 50 books. WWII prisoner of war (1940-45) in Colditz. Made a Knight (Chevalier) of the French Legion of Honour, and awarded the Croix de Guerre. In addition, Congar was awarded the Medaille des Evades for his numerous escape attempts.

Thank you very much.  I trust enough in my friendship with you to be able to tell you frankly what I thought. The book is an act of propaganda that you would have done better not to accost. There's no need to elaborate. I do not wish to get into a debate with you, but I notice that more than one page reads like a pamphlet. It is not in the spirit of the Gospel nor the circumstances of the current state of the world.
