ALS - Autograph Letter Signed: two sides of half sheet, written from Fourviere, Lyon; 27 July 1962. Addressed to author-journalist Jean Marie Paupert.  Reads:  You kindlys ent me your latest book. Thank you very much.  I trust enough in my friendship with you to be able to tell you frankly what I thought. The book is an act of propaganda that you would have done better not to accost. There's no need to elaborate. I do not wish to get into a debate with you, but I notice that more than one page reads like a pamphlet. It is not in the spirit of the Gospel nor the circumstances of the current state of the world.
