French Dominican friar, priest, and theologian. He is perhaps best known for his influence at the Second Vatican Council and for reviving theological interest in the Holy Spirit for the life of individuals and of the church. He was created a cardinal of the Catholic Church in 1994.

TLS - Typewritten Letter Signed, one and one-quarter page, 22 September 1962, on imprinted letterhead of Couvent Des Dominicans Strasbourg. Likely written to Henri Daniel-Rops or another close collaborator. While preparing for his work at Vatican Council in 1962, Congar writes in detail about a forthcoming book: either For a Servant and Poor Church, (1963) or The Meaning of Tradition (1964). Book discusses preparation of draft, typography and his desire to complete the work while at the Council, unsure what his responsibility will be while in Rome. A seminal letter of considerable importance.
