TLS - Typewritten Letter Signed, one page on the stationary of the Propaganda Fide; Rome 10 December 1947. Addressed to Doctor Giovanni di Giura, Vice President of the Association of Missionaries of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. Lengthy letter with excellent content, signed as secretary of the Propaganda Fide. In part, he thanks the doctor for the gift of a three volume set that the Missionary Association published for the School of Medicine and Surgery for missionaries. Adds: Unfortunately, my many and urgent occupations do not allow me to take on commitments regarding the presidency of meetings; but from now on I assure you that every program formulated for the growth of the International School of Medicine for Missionaries cannot fail to have my cordial approval.

Costantini is, perhaps, best known for his work in China. He dedicated himself to improving the work of missionaries and believed that evangelization in China belonged to the Chinese people. His time there heralded countless successes and he was careful never to involve himself in the complex politics between the Church and the State.

Material with content of Costantini is rather uncommon. This may be the first such letter we have ever offered in 53 years.
