English cardinal; prior and seminary professor. President of the Pontifical Commission for the Revision of the Vulgate. Member of the Pontifical Biblical Commission.  Created a cardinal in 1914. Protector of the Venerable English Collage, Rome.  Librarian and Archivist of the Church until his death.
