American author, publisher, artist and philosopher of self-reliance. Founder of the Roycroft artisan community, East Aurora, NY.  Earlier in his career he was a traveling salesman and executive for Larkin Soap Company, Buffalo.  An influential exponent of the Arts and Crafts Movement.

Among Hubbard's many publications were the 14 volume work Little Journeys to the Homes of the Great and the short publication A Message to Garcia. Hubbard and his second wife, Alice Moore Hubbard, perished with the sinking of the RMS Lusitania off the coast of Ireland on 7 May 1915.
