Italian cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. Undersecretary of the Sac. Congr. for Religious and, subsequently, its Secretary. As Secretary he served as the second-highest official of that dicastery. Created a cardinal by Pius XI in 1935. Went on to serve as Pro-Prefect of the Congregation for religious. One of the cardinals who participated in the 1939 papal conclave that elected Venerable Pius XII.
