ALS - Autograph Letter Signed, 29 April 1861, two sides of unprinted stationery to an unnamed French bishop.  Oddly, penned in French. Likely written while Prefect of the Congregation of Rites and Ceremonies. Somewhat tongue-in-cheek letter concerning what instruction is best suited to parishoners under his care. In part reads: In my private opinion it would, perhaps, be more useful to your people, overall, than to those in the countryside, to have during festivals a cathechetical instruction on Christian doctrine, as you have arranged with several of your zealous parishes, instead of attendance at high vespers and compline.  Given length the letter merits further research.
