Cardinal Archbishop of Milan. Procurator General of the Cassinese Congregation; President of the Pontifical Oriental Institute; Consultor to the Congregation of Rites and Congregation for the Oriental Churches. Named archbishop of Milan (1929) and elevated to the cardinalate the same year. In 1933 he was conferred as a bailiff grand cross of honor and devotion to the Order of Malta. Papabile in the 1939 conclave in which Eugenio Pacelli was proclaimed Pius XII. Declared Blessed in 1995.


ALS - Autograph Letter Signed; one and one-quarter pages on watermarked stationery.  Addressed to Monsignor Melchiorre Carezzali (1865-1944), then Pro-Vacario General of the Archdiocese.  Letter dated 19 September 1929. Friendly letter in which he thanks the monsignor for orchestrating the beautiful ceremony in honor of the knights and dames of the Holy Sepulcher. Letter accompanied by a 1954 black and white, silver gelatin newswire print on the occasion of his death.


Autograph material of Cardinal Schuster regularly appears on the market  while fully handwritten and signed letters are far less common.
