(Ludwig Philipp) Albert Schweitzer was a German polymath from Alsace. He was a theologian, organist, musicologist, writer, humanitarian, philosopher, and physician. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, Goethe Prize, and the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade. He established a renowned medical mission in Equatorial Africa and championed the philosophical ethic of "reverence for life."
