American cardinal; archbishop of New York; former Auxiliary Bishop of Boston under Cardinal O'Connell. Military ordinary of the US Armed Forces.  Somewhat irreverently called "The American Pope" for his close ties to Pius XII and previous experience of having worked in the Vatican Secretariat of State.  Despite his staunch anti-Communist, very moralistic public image, there are many legitimate sources that claim Spellman was a closeted homosexual, including references in the files of J. Edgar Hoover, himself not above question.

SP - Signed Photograph:  3"x5" black and white litho print image nicely signed in blue fountain pen ink on the lower white mount. The reverse is a tribute to members of the Armed Forces.

NOTA BENE:  We have dozens of letters, signed photographs and signed books of Cardinal Spellman.  Please inquire.

SPELLMAN, Francis J.
