American cardinal. Archbishop of Chicago (1940-58). Pro-Prefect of the Sacred Congregation of the Faith for less than two months prior to his death. Created a cardinal by Pius XII in 1946.

SIG - Vintage fountain pen ink signature, on small card. Penned close to the top, thus little room for matting. Accompanied by a 7"x9" black and white silver gelatin print newswire image dated 1950.  This was a portrait by Viennese artist Greta Kempton. Also comes with a small commemorative funeral card of Stritch the back of which shows considerable tape damage. Ensemble priced accordingly.

STRITCH, Samuel (1887-1958)
